Visual Inspection:

1. Inspect chimney and flue pipe for proper draft condition
2. Inspect condition of venting/vent connections
3. Inspect condition of controls and burners; clean as needed
4. Inspect filter and advise customer of proper cleaning or replacement
5. Check heat exchanger for carbon or cracks
6. Check condition of blower motor, wheel and belt
7. Check water level on boilers; adjust to proper levels as needed

Operational Inspection:

1. Ensure thermostat starts/shuts down unit properly
2. Check for proper operation of belts, blowers, motors, and switches; oil, adjust and clean as needed
3. Check for proper ignition, pilot light and proper burning of main burners; clean or adjust as needed

The Safety Check will be provided in one of three ways: 

1. If you call for service, the Safety Check may be provided during the same appointment
2. You may call MichCon to schedule a Safety Check. The appointment will be made as workload permits. MichCon will notify you if a schedule change is necessary
3. MichCon may notify you of the outstanding Safety Check and try to set an appointment to come to your home

The Safety Check option applies only to the heating system in residential dwellings.
