Program Highlights

For your information:
  • DTE Energy's Home Protection Plus®, owned and administered by MichCon, a DTE Energy Company, is a twelve-month contract and will automatically renew annually unless otherwise requested.
  • The Plan is designed to provide prompt, efficient service for failures of the primary source of heat. DTE Energy reserves the right to schedule all other service requests and safety checks at its discretion.
  • Coverage begins 15 days after enrollment is processed. Appliances must be in good working condition when coverage begins. Pre-existing conditions, as determined by DTE Energy or authorized contractor, are not covered. Appliances must be reasonably clean and accessible.
  • Coverage will remain in effect only by keeping all payments to DTE Energy and its affiliates up-to-date. If you are delinquent in payments, service under this program will be denied and/or the contract terminated at DTE Energy's discretion without notice.
  • Coverage under the Plan may be available to an owner or tenant of a residential dwelling with no more than three units on one residential heating system, or any residential dwelling with a separate residential heating system for each unit.
  • DTE Energy service technicians or authorized contractors will perform all service work. The Plan will not reimburse for services rendered by unauthorized outside parties.
  • The Plan will not cover the cost of replacing equipment that has failed despite good-faith repair efforts made by a DTE Energy technician or authorized contractor.

MichCon encourages you to read the contract thoroughly. Confirmation notice letters, including full contract terms, will be mailed to you after enrollment.
The Home Protection Plus® program is not regulated by the Michigan Public Service Commission.
Appliance service programs may be available from another provider.
You can cancel your Home Protection Plus® contract without penalty up to 10 days after enrollment.
Your regulated utility rates and the conditions of your service are not affected by enrollment in Home Protection Plus® or by your decision to use the services of another appliance repair service provider.
