What is Home Protection Plus®?
Home Protection Plus® is the appliance repair plan from MichCon, a DTE Energy Company. With Home Protection Plus®, key appliances – based on the Plan you select – are automatically covered when they need repair.

Who is eligible to enroll in Home Protection Plus®?
The program is available to qualified DTE Energy residential customers.

How do I enroll?
You may enroll in Home Protection Plus® either online at www.hppservices.com or by calling 800.556.0011.

How quickly does my coverage start?
Coverage begins 15 days after your enrollment is processed. Processing typically takes 1-2 days.

How do I know what's covered and what's not?
An overview is provided in the Program Highlights. Full details are included in the Terms & Conditions. MichCon encourages you to read it thoroughly, as you will be bound by it.

I have an appliance that's pretty old. Will Home Protection Plus® cover it?
All equipment covered by Home Protection Plus® must meet Code requirements, be reasonably clean and safely accessible, and in good operating condition at the time that the coverage begins. MichCon reserves the right to have an on-site inspection of the equipment. (Please see the Terms & Conditions for full details.)

My appliances are fairly new. Why would I need Home Protection Plus®?
New or old, appliances can break down at any time. And many appliances only have warranties up to one year. Last year alone, more than 100,000 service calls were covered by Home Protection Plus®, saving customers hundreds of thousands of dollars in appliance repair costs.

What should I do if one of my covered appliances needs repair?
Simply call our Home Protection Plus® hotline at 800.556.0011 when something goes wrong with a covered appliance and we'll schedule a service technician to come to your home.

How much does a service call cost?
Covered labor and parts are free. Plus, there are no deductibles, diagnostic fees or service call fees. If the appliance and repairs are covered by the Home Protection Plus® plan you have chosen, your cost should be nothing.

What if my covered appliance cannot be repaired?
If your covered repair exceeds the value of your appliance or the covered parts are no longer available, in some cases we'll give you a cash allowance to apply toward a new one. (See the Terms & Conditions for full details.)

Can I add other appliances to my Plan?
Yes, at any time. Just call 800.556.0011.

How am I billed for Home Protection Plus®?
Your monthly or yearly charge will be included in your DTE Energy statement. As long as you pay your DTE Energy bill in full, your coverage is maintained.

I received a letter saying I have an unpaid balance on my Home Protection Plus® account. I pay my DTE Energy bill every month. How can this be?
Payments made to DTE Energy go toward your utility portion first (electricity and gas), then toward any other DTE Energy products and services on your account. If you haven’t paid your bill in full each month, there is a chance that your Home Protection Plus® plan has gone unpaid. Please call 800.556.0011 to confirm and determine how much is owed. You can maintain your current coverage by paying the balance in full. Please send a check for the amount made out to DTE Energy to: Home Protection Plus®, 352 WCB, DTE Energy, 2000 2nd Avenue, Detroit, MI 48226-9882.

Will enrollment in Home Protection Plus® lower my utility rates?
Your regulated utility rates and the conditions of your utility service are not affected by enrollment in Home Protection Plus® or by your decision to use the services of another appliance repair provider.

How do I cancel my Home Protection Plus® plan?
You may cancel your Home Protection Plus® contract without penalty up to 30 days after enrollment by calling 800.556.0011 or by submitting your request in writing to: Home Protection Plus® Program Management, 2000 2nd Ave., 352 WCB, Detroit, MI 48226; by fax to 313.235.4690 or by e-mail to hpp_service@dteenergy.com

The Home Protection Plus® program is available only to qualified DTE Energy residential customers. The Home Protection Plus® program is not regulated by the Michigan Public Service Commission. Appliance service programs may be available from another provider. You can cancel your Home Protection Plus® contract without penalty up to 10 days after enrollment. Your regulated utility rates and the conditions of your service are not affected by enrollment in Home Protection Plus® or by your decision to use the services of another appliance repair service provider.
